The Future Leaders Scholarship empowers the next generation of flood management professionals. By supporting students who are committed to building a safer and more resilient nation, the scholarship helps cultivate future leaders who will carry forward the Foundation’s vision of reducing flood losses and managing flood risks.

About Our Scholarships

The ASFPM Foundation Future Leaders Scholarship offers up to $20,000 per year for the last two years in a four or five year undergraduate program and is for students studying fields related to floodplain and flood risk management. The scholarship supports undergraduate studies only and is aimed at students committed to a career that reduces the risk and impacts of floods on people and communities. Each year the Foundation selects one new Future Leaders Scholar. The application deadline is February 1, 2026.

Since the inception of the Future Leaders Scholarship the ASFPM Foundation has awarded 6 scholarships totaling $240k to deserving undergraduate students. Thank you for your generosity.

The Flood Risk Management profession needs young people with sharp minds and creative solutions to counter the increased frequency and severity of storms and flooding brought about by climate change. Audrey Nelson, 2025 - 2027 FLS Recipient


Audrey is attending Florida Gulf Coast University where she is pursuing her degree in Environmental Science. Audrey will receive scholarship donations of $20,000 for both the 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 school years.
